This year there was the largest ever turn out of players (19 + a non-playing umpire) and several spectators for this event which was held in St John's Church Hall, Belfast. Jeremy Dowd was the umpire. Most of the top players in Ireland were unable to attend so the field was wide open. This year's theme was "India, the East and the Americas".

This was a 1-day, 3-round 200AP themed event using +100 scoring. Everyone had a great time and the games all proceeded smoothly.

Below is a selection of pictures from the day.

New Players Jackie and Andy

New Players at the Event

Both Jackie (left foreground) and Andy (right foreground) were participating in their first DBM competition in Ireland. Both put in strong debut performances.

Neil wins a game

A victorious Neil Blanchflower with Jeremy Dowd

This shot was taken at the end of their game. Jeremy stepped in as a "bye" player due to one player retiring. I believe this was Neil's first win in a competition game of DBM.David Brown and John Mason can be seen in the background.

John Lavery and son

John Lavery and Son

With their beaufifully painted Early Samurai army John Lavery and son had a good day.

Alec McTurk considering his move while playing Neil Blanchflower. The game ended 110-0 to Alec.

Gamers and "spectators"

Cillian and Tim deploy/make their first moves while some of the UWS regulars play card-games in the background.

Darragh having a bad day

Graeco-Indian vs Later Muslim Indian

Darragh might have regretted coming "up North" for the games (in fact all of Team Intel did) but at least he won the door prize. Darren Birt is seen in the background, his tiny Tibetian army didn't really work out either.

Han Chinese infantry

Han Chinese vs Yuan Chinese

Han Chinese infantry and chariot general (mercenaries from Padraig Bracken's collection) advance through a gap between terrain vs Brian Bull's Yuan Chinese. This disorder actually worked somehow, the game ended 110-0 for the Han.

Cillian all happy

A happy man!
