Games Workshop games are some of the most popular games at DGG. You will find someone playing a GW game every week. There is a league that players can compete in as well as the getting the opportunity to play one on one versus a wide variety of opponents.
What games do we play?
We play a number of GW games including Fantasy Battle, 40k, Ancient Battles and Battlefleet Gothic. What's currently popular changes as time goes on so just because you don't see anyone playing your favourite at the moment doesn't mean there aren't opponents with armies waiting.
What are these games anyway?
These are miniatures based games that are generally played one on one. They all involve tactics but the type of game play and subject matter changes a lot from game to game. If you want to find out more details have a look at the Games Workshop and GW Specialist web sites. If you want more details on a specific game use the links below which are to specific areas of the GW or associated sites
- Warhammer 40k
Set in the nightmare future of the 41st millenium, this has stalwart Space Marines, haughty Space Elves, bestial Space Orks and a huge variety of dirty Space Aliens. I think you get the idea.
- Warhammer Fantasy Battle
Not really called Fantasy Battle any more it seems, this is just Warhammer! There is less technology and aliens here than in 40k but the absence is more than made up by the hordes of undead, evil sorcerors, unnatural creatures and the other usual suspects of fantasy novels.
- Battlefleet Gothic
If you ever wondered how your 40k Space Marines got to their warzone du jour then this game is your answer. This is a space fleet battle game set in the Warhammer 40k universe
- Warhammer Ancient Battles
Similar in mechanics and gameplay to 40k and WFB this game uses historical armies like the Romans and the Normans.
