The RINIWA Committee has adopted (4 Nov-08) the following rules for FOG400AP Competitions.
RINIWA FOG 400 rules
Version 1.3
1. Armies are chosen to a points limit of 400 points.
2. The minimum and maximum number of available bases in the army lists are halved but the size of battle groups remains the same.
3. If rule 2 results in a maximum number of elements for a particular troop type that is less than the minimum size for a battle group, then a single battle group of that troop type can still be played at the minimum battle group size. E.g., mob with maximum of 12 elements and a battle group size of 8-12 can still be played as a single battle group of 8 bases. When two or more different troop types are listed with an individual minimum and maximum number of elements and an overall minimum and maximum number of elements a minimum size battle group of each different type can be played even if halving the overall maximum number of elements would be insufficient to allow all the different types to be played. For example: In army list book 2, Storm of Arrows, for Later Anglo Irish, on page 30. Anglo Irish Lancers and Anglo Irish Spears have individual minimums of four and an overall maximum for both types of twelve. Two battle groups of four bases (one of each type) could be fielded.
4. General elements cost half the normal points rounding up. A commander in chief must be played along with 1 or 2 sub generals. Allied generals can be played instead of sub generals if available in the relevant army list.
5. The playing area is 36 inches deep by 48 inches wide. (90cm x 120cm)
6. Deployment is up to 10 MU for skirmishers and 7MU for non-skirmishers from own rear table edge.
7. All normal rules applicable to ambushes still apply but the distance the player without initiative can place ambushes forward of his rear table edge is reduced to 12 MU.
8. No large pieces of terrain are allowed but otherwise the size of terrain remains the same as the rules for a normal size terrain piece.
9. Distances for shifting terrain referred to in terrain placement are 4 MU and 8 MU rather than 6 MU and 12 MU.
10. The 8 MU from table edge referred to in terrain placing is reduced to 5 MU.
11. The number of optional terrain pieces available to each player are reduced to 1-2.
12. The number of bases required to gain a pre battle initiative modifier are halved.
13. The initial minimum distance between pieces of terrain when deployed is 80mm.
14. Players should use equally sized pieces of baggage. The size of baggage can be reduced to 80mm x 80mm or four 40mm x 40mm pieces if available for both sides. If using four 40mm square pieces of baggage these must be deployed in an 80mm x 80mm square.
15. The modifier for a threatened flank referred to in cohesion tests applies if a table edge is within 4MU of the testing battle group and otherwise as per the main rules.
