About RINIWA

What is RINIWA?

RINIWA is an association of wargames players from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland who have come together to promote the wargames hobby on the island of Ireland and to represent internationally the interests of competition wargames players in Ireland. This is important because the field of international wargames competition is becoming increasingly organised and we need an umbrella organisation to make our voice heard by joining the International Wargames Federation. RINIWA is not a federation of wargames clubs in Ireland as the diverse interests of wargamers make consensus at that level difficult. It is instead a players association focused on one aspect of the hobby, competition wargames.

RINIWA is a non-profit and non-political organisation that is run by players for players. Any money accrued by RINIWA will be ploughed back into wargaming in Ireland. In the short term we intend to focus supporting on the DBM ruleset for ancient historical battles. This is because it is currently the most popular ruleset for international wargames competitions (and competitions within Ireland). Given sufficient time and member interest we may branch out into other areas of the wargames hobby in the future.
