When: Saturday the 24th of April 2004, 11AM-5PM

Contact: Tim Snoddy

Cost: 5 euro (4 euro RINIWA members)

What's Happening:

This event is an opportunity for wargamers to get together, have a few beers and perhaps try something new. Several people have volunteered to run participation games in various periods. The centre-piece of the day is likely to be a DBM refight of the battle of Gaugamala 331BC in 15mm with thousands of figures on a 12x4 table. This ties in with the Society of Ancients Gaugamala battle-daybe held in England on April 4th. Also on offer is a Sci-Fi wargame and a game based on Western gunfights. If you would like to participate in any of these games it is desireable to pre-book by contacting the event co-ordinator, Tim Snoddy. We will do our best to accomodate people who arrive on the day and spectators are welcome.

Game Descriptions:

Gaugamala 331BC

Take part in Darius III's final defence of Persia against the Macedonian aggressors led by Alexander the Great. This epic battle pitches approximately 50,000 Macedonians against 250,000 Persians. This battle will be refought at 1:80 scale (approx 3000 15mm miniatures) on a 12'x4' table using the DBM rules and one player per command. In total seven players can take part. The full scenario we are using can be seen online here.

Airport Assault, A Dirtside II Scenario

Ireland 2104
The secession of the German-led Neu Swabian League from the European Union has caused a French-led coalition to form the Federal Stats Europa. The ensuing conflict spills over into other ex-EU states. An FSE faction in the Irish Defence Forces has seized control of Dublin and is quickly consolidating control over the rest of the country.

With the backing of the NSL, the remnants of the Irish Government's forces rush to seize control of Dublin Airport so as to allow direct intervention by available NSL forces.

28mm Wild West Skirmish

A game with no name! You know the sort of thing, gunslingers, stray dogs and tumbleweed. No experience necessary, just drop by and play.
