A 1-day wargames event in Dublin during August.
The Historical Strongbow
Our competition is named after Strongbow or Richard fitz Gilbert de Clare, Earl of Pembroke (1130AD - 1176AD). Our logo features his seal.
Who was this guy?
The short answer is that he was the leader of the Norman expedition to Ireland in 1169-1170AD and so he fills a role similar to that of William the Conquerer in Irish eyes.
We had 2 DBMM v2 competitions in Dublin on the 31st of July (3 games each). This was DBMM v2's worldwide premier as a competition set. It was also the 10th year of Strongbow's Shield as an event - so we must be doing something right! To celebrate this we had a bring and buy in support of RINIWA - this was ably run by Mick Hessian who at one point commented that it might take us another 10 years to accumulate so much stuff for sale!
I umpired. and despite many players only receiving the rules within the last 2 weeks we had very few rules issues - a good sign!
Everyone felt that v2 was a big improvement and no-one was bemoaning the lack of v1 (fairly unusual for wargamers ....:-)

It is available immediately via Monarch Publications:
http://monarchmilitarybooks.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=250...
This is post-free to the UK, ignore any warnings about stock levels as they are 20 mins from the warehouse.
It is supposed to be 10% postage (min £2.50) to ROI ...but that charge did not appear on my initial order
and I'll have to see if they contact me subsequently.
The idea of having a bring and buy stall at Strongbow's Shield this year seemed popular so we'll do it. Here are the rules:
1. The Bring and Buy is not contracted out to outside organisations. It is managed and run by RINIWA. No item is secure without your vigilance and help, so help us to help you have a great show!
2. A nominal admin fee for sellers will apply. There is also a commission on any items sold. All these fees go to RINIWA.
3. We reserve the right to refuse items from prospective sellers.

This was the first 200AP DBMM event held in Ireland, we had a good turn-out of 12 players plus an umpire. This was in addition to a parallel FOG competition. There were several new faces at the event and it was good to meet again some people who hadn't been to a competition for a long time.
